The GATE 2026 examination will be conducted on these four dates 7, 8, 14 & 15 February 2026 in different shifts across various exam centres in India. Candidates appearing for the exam should keep their admit card and ID proof ready in advance to avoid last time issues.
After the exam is completed, the official GATE 2026 answer key will be released after few days. Using the answer key, students can check their answers, calculate tentative marks and understand their performance level before the final result is announced.
Along with the answer key, the response sheet will also be available. If any error is found, candidates will get a limited time window to raise objections by paying a small fee. This process helps in maintaining transparency in the evaluation system.
GATE 2026 Registration & Important Dates
- GATE registration 2026 start date:- 30 Aug 2025
- Last date for submission of GATE 2026 application form without late fee:- 6 Oct 2025
- Last date for the submission of Online Application with late fees: – 9 Oct 2025.

Note: Candidates will have to make the payment of ₹500 as late fee.
GATE 2026 Eligibility
As per GATE exam eligibility 2026 candidates must have any bachelor degree in Engineering or Technology or Architecture or Science or Humanities.
- Final year students are also eligible.
- There is no upper age limit.
GATE 2026 Application Process (Without Late Fee)

- Visit the IIT Guwahati GATE 2026 website gate2026.iitg.ac.in
- Visit the GATE 2026 application form link GOAPS portal
- Register with your name, email address and mobile number to receive your enrollment ID.
- Login via GATE 2026 candidate login using your credentials.
- Fill in the form details and upload the required documents.
- Pay the application fee and click the submit button.
- Take a printout for future reference.
Required Documents for GATE Registration 2026
The following documents are required to be uploaded while submitting the form:-
- Recent passport size photograph
- Signature in JPG or JPEG format
- Scanned copy of valid ID proof
- PwD or Dyslexia medical certificate (if applicable)
- Category certificate (if applicable)

GATE Application Fees 2026
- Female or SC or ST or PwD candidates:- ₹1000 (without late fee) and ₹1500 (with late fee)
- Other candidates:- ₹1800 (without late fee) and ₹2300 (with late fee)
GATE Syllabus & Exam Details
GATE syllabus 2026 includes 30+ subjects or disciplines which include major branches like Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Civil and Chemical Engineering. MCQ (Multiple Choice), MSQ (Multiple Select) and NAT (Numerical Answer Type) questions are asked in the paper.

- Forenoon Session:- 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM
- Afternoon Session:- 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM
